Overview

 

The Conservation and Restoration Summer University on the subject of Analytical Techniques in Cultural Heritage will be a five days meeting, dedicated to different analytical techniques. Each invited speaker is a renowned specialist in a different area of physical and chemical analytical techniques applied to the study and conservation of cultural heritage. Each talk will be presented by a different lecturer and it will be totally dedicated to a specific theme.

This first edition will take place at Aveiro University (Portugal) and aims to getter professionals and students related to different areas of cultural heritage: restorers, conservators, curators, art historians, archaeologists, physics, chemists, museum technicians, etc.

We intend that this five days meeting will bring practical and useful information to those who attend it, allowing a better understanding of how the different methods can work in the benefit of the conservation of Cultural Heritage.

Main goals

One of the main goals of this Conservation and Restoration Summer University is to promote the knowledge of how the different techniques can be applied to the study and protection of cultural assets, to understand how these techniques they can be applied and interpreted and also to present the most recent developments in these areas.

We intend that this five days meeting will bring practical and useful information to those who attend it, allowing a better understanding of how the different methods can work in the benefit of the conservation of Cultural Heritage.

With the purpose of allowing a better study of the different analytical techniques, each lecture will be totally dedicated to a specific theme and will have a 3 hours period. There will be 7 different lectures.

The participants will have the option to attend the entire week of conferences or select specific lectures.

Finally, it is also one of the main goals of this Summer University to promote the exchange of ideas and the meeting between all of the participants (professionals and students). A social program has also been planned.
