António João Cruz

Identification of pigments used in painting and sculpture: possibilities and problems (in Portuguese)

Degree in Chemistry (1986) and PhD in Analytical Chemistry (1993) from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. Currently he is Adjunct Professor at the Departmental Unit of Archaeology, Conservation and Restoration and Heritage of the School of Technology of Tomar, Polytechnic Institute of Tomar.

Over the past 20 years has been involved in the study of works of art in different institutions, especially the study of painting and polychromed sculpture. He has also been involved in the study of the history of pigments through documentary sources and in the history of conservation and restoration in Portugal.

Since 2006, maintains a blog on the laboratory study, the material aspects and the conservation and restoration of works of art.
